I see that Violence against women, Homeless prevention, and schools are getting a good deal, which is awesome.
The roads in Oklahoma are TERRIBLE (even in Tulsa, where you'd think they'd be spic-and-span), so hopefully the money will be well spent. But Oklahoma's not generally known for it's expertise in spending in the most needed of areas.
Btw! I noticed that schools are getting quite a chunk of the money. Don't the schools already get a large portion of the Lottery sales? Yet teachers are still underpaid. Hm...
All good programs, Tamster. I share your doubt in Oklahoma's ability to spend the money where needed. Why do I think the road repairs will consist of two shovelfuls of asphalt tossed into a chuckhole instead of one?
The school funding is an old story and not limited to Oklahoma. Supporters of the lottery tout school funding, as if just having fun with a lottery isn't reason enough to have one. Oh, it'll fund education. Well, in that case. . . Sure, education gets the funding but then legislators pull the original funding because now it's so well funded. Result? A net nothing for education but a gain for legislators' other pet projects.
